Vegan Tasmania was created in order to provide a haven and resource centre for vegans living in or visiting Tasmania, Australia.
Otis Beanery is a vegan food business based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. We teach vegan cookery, food preservation,fermentation and a variety of artisan kitchen skills through ourfun and accessible workshops. Head chef Alan Whykes is a certified Vegan Fusion Level II trainer and has many years experience cooking and teaching in Australia, Indonesia, Italy and the USA. He specialises in fermented foods and has a passion for vibrant dishes that are both healthy and convenient to prepare.
Additionally we provide consulting services to other food businesses looking to improve and expand their vegan range.
Alan uses his teaching background to prepare innovative presentations and tastings that are ideal for schools, fairs, community events and festivals. These include:
- growing and using microgreens & sprouts;
- healthy eating: easy, delicious recipes that are low in added fat, salt and sugar;
- edible weeds identification and use, urban foraging;
